Cardcloud for iPhone 2.5

Following last week’s Android release, we’re happy to bring you the latest version of Cardcloud for iPhone. Like the Android version, this update features the optimized sharing screen - redesigned for faster sharing of cards - for users with or without Cardcloud.

Apart from our minimized Sharing screen we’ve been optimizing performance for speedier sharing.

You can download Cardcloud for iPhone from the iTunes App Store.

The most important thing for us here at Cardcloud is to make sure that we provide you with the simplest and fastest way to exchange a digital business card - and make sure that our cards actually give you additional benefits over paper cards. This is a process that will obviously take take time. There are a lot of factors to take into consideration. First of all, it’s extremely important to play well with the current standard. That standard is still the paper business card. It’s no surprise that most of the traffic on Cardcloud consists of card exchanges per email.

A second factor is the need for cross-platform solutions. Creating a user experience that works well over a large base of smartphone platforms takes time and lots of iterations before you get it right. But the additional benefits we have with digital cards over paper cards is the amount of meta data we can store per interaction with the system. This will be important for the next releases we have in the pipeline.

To enforce Cardcloud’s goal we’ve updated the homepage to reflect the core of the product. We hope you all like it!

Cardcloud for Android 1.4 released

We’re very proud to introduce Cardcloud for Android 1.4. We spent some time optimizing the sharing screen on both Android on iOS, and came up with a beautiful and minimal solution. We’re calling it the ‘unified sharing screen’ internally, which will serve as a base for several bigger updates we’re planning in the next couple of weeks.

So what did we do exactly? Instead of having a tabbed display to separate card emailing from beaming, we merged both tabs. As soon as you want to share a card, Cardcloud will start looking for people nearby - even if you’ll be emailing your card.

We also added general settings in the more pane: You can now change the way you show up when scanning for people nearby. Also, change your password from within the app.

Apart from that, the usual mix of stability improvements and bug fixes. Enjoy!

Cardcloud for Android is available on the App Market.
